Making Low Fat Chips.

The British are well known for their love of chips. It is strange that, given all the different things that can be done with a potato, it is the chip that remains most popular. Mind you, whatever type of ingredients it is that we have you can be guaranteed that we manage to find a really unhealthy way of cooking them.

So, here is a recipe for low fat chips. Oven chips are pretty low in fat but these ones are even healthier!

1. Peel some spuds and chip them. I always find that chunky chips turn out to be the best but you can cut them to whatever thickness you like.

2. Part-boil them for around ten minutes. When you drain them give them a good shake around to make them as fluffy as possible; the fluffier you can make them, the crispier they will be.

3. Use some low-fat spray oil to grease a baking tray and put your chips on it. When you have levelled them out give them a few squirts of oil to help them to brown in the oven.

4. This part is optional. If you like rosemary then sprinkle plenty of it all over your chips before you put them into the oven. It will give them a lovely flavour and fill your kitchen with a gorgeous smell! If rosemary isn’t your scene then just leave out this step.

5. The total cooking time is around 40 minutes on 200c (Gas Mark 6). Halfway through cooking take the tray out and turn over the chips. If you want to try and make them even more crispy then cook them for a little longer and turn them a couple of times.

And that’s it; simple. You can now sit and enjoy some really tasty chips without worrying about them containing loads of fat!

I have thrilling news before I run, I was talking to my cousin last week and he has just got a amazing new gig at an human resource software company. Well done Oliver
